"DeVos shines as he lays down fluid bluesy triplets…most
importantly, really knows how to show that he’s listening…

DeVos is one of the finest players you'll hear, a New York guy who just
oozes soul. It's easy to see why he's the choice of organ players
everywhere: he creates such a good feel--easy and relaxed but at the same
time it burns and is extremely soulful. On DeVos' Groove Guitar! things
swing, things are bluesy, and things are plain-old souful.

Bob
DeVos is a jazz monster! DeVos Groove Guitar! is a MUST for all
aspiring guitarists. On Thelonious Monk’s classic tune, "Round
Midnight" Bob DeVos has a masterpiece arrangement. He plays behind
the beat with the organ countering in a very mystical way. This is one of
the finest solos I have ever heard played against the chord changes. DeVos
is superb!

Don
Williamson in Jazzreview.com magazine, 2003:
The
result is DeVos’ Groove Guitar!, appropriately entitled right
down to the exclamation mark. The excitement from DeVos’ playing comes
directly from the groove: Laid back and obviously enjoying themselves,
DeVos’ group breezes through the CD’s nine tunes. Varied from
Thelonious Monk’s "Round Midnight" to Burt Bacharach’s
"The Look of Love," DeVos approaches all of the music with an
ease that invites the listener to enjoy the music. From the soulful appeal
of Curtis Mayfield’s "Prayin’ for Your Return" to the
now-famous vamp of Herbie Hancock’s "Cantaloupe Island," DeVos
finds the common element of groove to link them all.
Bob
DeVos has remained steadfast in the essential elements of his style:
melodic clarity, logical solo construction, assured confidence, a ringing
tone and an irresistible groove on his guitar (!). He certainly deserves
the attention that DeVos’ Groove Guitar! will bring him.

A. Orthmann on DeVos’ Groove Guitar! 2003 and The Groove
ORGANization, 2002, Allaboutjazz.com magazine reviews:
"Radiating
keen intelligence and impeccable taste, DeVos’ playing extends beyond
the parameters of the soul-jazz genre. Throughout DeVos’ Groove
Guitar!, the guitarist plays expressive, melodically oriented solos
and incisive accompaniment…his logical, flowing lines beckon both the
aficionado and casual listener.
"DeVos
is a thinking person’s guitar hero...His solos manage to sound
both calculated and ardent…a full, liquid tone, a brilliant, knowing
bebop player."
