Dining Suggestions: There is ample and
varied dining in Newark, especially in the area near the New Jersey Performing
Arts Center where Spanish – Portuguese Restaurants abound.
The African-American Cultural and
Educational Center is in a large converted church at the corner of Washington
and James Street in downtown Newark. Washington
Street is a one-way street, running from South to North.
James Street is not a through street and can only be accessed by car from
Washington St. Some of the
directions below are to the Newark Museum which is 2 blocks south of the
concert venue. Please note that
there is currently construction on Washington Street, so if traveling by car,
lead ample time for parking and walking.

By
train -
NJ Transit trains and buses, as well as PATH trains, stop at Newark's Penn
Station. However, if you are
coming from NYC or points west, we strongly suggest taking the NJ transit
Morristown line out of Penn Station to the Newark Broad Street Station.
The Newark Broad Street Station is above street level (stairs) and
is a few blocks north and west of the venue.
The same Morristown line also departs Hoboken and stops at the
Broad Street Station. See
transit links at the end of these directions.
From
Penn Station, Newark's City Subway's Washington Street stop (at Raymond
Blvd.) is four blocks south of the Museum. Transit bus #44 from Penn
Station stops at Washington Street and Central Avenue. Walk down
Washington Street a 2 more blocks to the concert site at the corner of
Washington and James Streets. Buses
#13 or #27 from Broad Street Station stop near the Museum at Broad Street
and Washington Place. Walk a couple of blocks along park to concert site.
We suggest calling for additional bus information call
1-800-626-RIDE and pulling up a local street map on search engines such as
Mapquest.com. For
